911 Center

The Monroe County 911 Center began operations in June, 1996 and has been providing the citizens of the county emergency telephone service on a continuous 24 hour basis since it's inception. We serve as a vital link between the residents, businesses, visitors and public safety agencies of Monroe County. We are committed to serving the County's emergency communications needs with integrity, cooperation and concern for the welfare of all.

911 Center Telecommunicators are the first of the first responders, providing the vital first link in the chain of public safety when handling emergency calls. The 911 Center dispatches Law Enforcement, Fire Service, and Emergency Medical Services for Monroe County, receiving an average of 85 calls a day and employing 13 dedicated employees who serve our community 7/24/365. The goal of Management and Staff of the Monroe County 911 Center is to provide immediate, courteous, and professional quality service. We strive to ensure an efficient, high-quality 9-1-1 communications system based on our standards of excellence and cooperation. Providing tele-first aid and CPR assistance when time is of the essence. This response would be impossible were it not for the many dedicated volunteers who selflessly serve the residents of the county many times at their personal expense.

Important Update: Monroe County is Transitioning to Rave Alert & Smart911!

Monroe County Emergency Management is upgrading our community notification system. We are transitioning away from CodeRed and launching Rave Alert and Smart911 to provide you with better, faster, and more comprehensive safety tools. We want to assure all residents that you remain fully protected during this transition. You will not lose early notice capabilities during true emergencies.
Here is what you need to know about how you are protected and how to sign up for our new localized community updates.

1. You Are Automatically Protected: True Emergency Broadcasts (IPAWS)

In a life-threatening crisis, you do not need to sign up for anything. Critical, life-saving alerts—such as severe tornado warnings or immediate evacuation orders—are sent via the Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS). These Wireless Emergency Alerts are automatically broadcast based on geographic location. If you are physically located within the danger zone, the alert will push directly to your mobile phone, television, or radio automatically.

2. Get Hyper-Local Updates: Opt-In for Monroe Alerts

While life-threatening alerts come through automatically, everyday local safety updates require a quick, free sign-up. By registering, you gain access to localized mass notifications that keep you informed about what is happening right in our county.
By signing up, you will receive:
• Localized weather updates
• Boil water advisories
• Road closures and traffic detours
• Community safety notices

How to Sign Up for Monroe Alerts & Smart911

Smart911 is a free, secure national service. When you create a profile, it allows you to securely share household information, medical conditions, or gate codes with 911 dispatchers. If you ever call 911, that information instantly displays on the dispatcher's screen so first responders can help you faster.
You can register your household in just a few minutes using either option below:

• On the Web: Visit the Smart911 Official Website on any computer or mobile browser. https://www.smart911.com

• On Your Phone: Download the free Smart911 application directly from the Apple App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android).

Your contact information will remain private and will only be used for severe weather alerts.
