The Monroe County 911 Communications Center is seeking to fill the full-time position of Emergency 911 Telecommunicator. This highly stressful position includes dispatching police, fire and rescue personnel in response to emergency situations. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, multi-task, receive and transmit information accurately and clearly, work independently, and have knowledge of the geographical area. Education equivalent to graduation from high school is required, in addition to pre-employment testing. Proficiency in data entry, general computer knowledge, and experience/capable in the use of radio and telephone communications equipment is preferred. A thorough background investigation of the finalist(s) is required. A candidate must have a valid driver’s license in good standing. Applicants who are offered employment must successfully complete entry-level Telecommunicator training, as well as WEAPONS data certification at the WV State Police Center Training Academy. Work schedule will vary according to the needs of the 911 Communications Center. Applications are available at the County Clerk’s Office and at the 911 Center located directly behind the Monroe County Court House. The position will remain open until it is filled.
