Assessor Martin elected President of the WV Assessor's Association

Monroe County Assessor Sarah Martin was elected as President of the West Virginia Assessors Association during the annual conference of WV Assessors. She was chosen by her peers to represent all 55 statewide Assessors as their leader and spokesperson for the upcoming year.

As President, she will represent the Assessors as a member of the WV Association of Counties, and represent all Assessors as a member of the State Tax Department Property Valuation Committee. The Property Valuation Committee oversees the Assessors to ensure that WV State Laws and Rules regulating the Assessors’ duties and procedures are being properly carried out.

Mrs. Martin will also be active dealing with the WV Legislature, taking a proactive stance with any new laws or changes to existing laws being proposed by the Legislature regarding taxation. This is a very important part of her new position because every year laws are proposed that may impact all taxpayers as well as all county school boards and municipalities statewide. These are only some of the additional duties and responsibilities Mrs. Martin has chosen to accept as President of the Assessors. She credits and thanks her staff in the Monroe Assessors Office with their work ethic and knowledge allowing her to devote time to the Presidents position for the upcoming year.
