Monroe County Clerk Jeremy Meadows today announced that the candidate filing period for the 2026 Primary Election has officially concluded. With the filing window now closed, the certified candidates below will appear on the May 12, 2026, Primary Election ballot.

"I am pleased to confirm that the candidate filing period has ended successfully," said Clerk Meadows. "We appreciate all individuals who stepped forward to serve our community by seeking public office. Their willingness to engage in the democratic process is commendable, and we thank each candidate for their dedication and commitment to Monroe County."

Clerk Meadows emphasized the importance of voter participation moving forward. "Now, the responsibility shifts to our citizens," he added. "I encourage every registered voter in Monroe County to make their voice heard this primary season. Getting out to vote is one of the most important ways we can shape the future of our country, state and county—your participation ensures that our local government reflects the will of the people."

Key upcoming election dates for Monroe County voters include:

  • The last day to register to vote or to make changes to existing voter information is April 21, 2026.
  • Absentee ballots will begin being mailed out on March 27, 2026.
  • Early voting will be available from April 29 through May 9, 2026, at the Monroe County Courthouse in Union and at the Peterstown Town Hall.

Voters are reminded to check their registration status and plan accordingly to ensure they can participate fully in the election. For additional information on voter registration, absentee voting, or polling locations, residents may contact the Monroe County Clerk's Office at the Courthouse or visit the official county website.
